Career
After completing his education at the prestigious University of London, Cyrus Mistry joined the family business. In 1991, he was named director of Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Ltd., a family-run construction company. He was also Shapoorji Pallonji & Company’s managing director. In 2012, he was appointed head of the Tata Group.
The board of Tata Sons, the parent organization of the Tata Group, removed him from his position in October 2016. Cyrus founded and is the proprietor of Cyrus Investments Pvt. Ltd. He invested in several well-known and successful companies. He had 18.4% of Tata Sons through his own company.
Death
Cyrus Mistry and the Pandole family visited the Iranshah Atash Behram in Udvada on September 4, 2022. They attempted to pass another vehicle from the opposite side as their car sped back from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. The result was that the car struck a road barrier in Palghar. Cyrus Mistry and Jehangir Pandole perished in the collision, which also destroyed the Mercedes. The other two occupants in the car, Anahita Pandole, and Darius Pandole, are still alive and in critical condition.
