D’Cruz was requested to attend an audition in 2005 by filmmaker Teja for a project that was ultimately shelved.

Her first role as an actor in a feature film was in the Telugu-language love drama Devadasu (2006). The movie’s director was Y. V. S. Chowdary.
She studied acting with seasoned actress Aruna Bhikshu before starting the movie.
