Career

He started working full-time for WRVR, the radio station operated by the Riverside Church, in 1967. Similar to how he started stand-up comedy in 1969, he was eventually spotted by the casting director for Good Times after appearing on the Jack Paar Show and Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In.

At the height of his Good Times stardom, Walker eventually issued just one stand-up comedy CD, Dyn-o-mite on Buddah Records (5635). In addition, he was 26 when the 1974–1975 Good Times season aired, even though his character was much younger. Additionally, Walker’s father on Good Times, John Amos, was just eight years Walker’s senior.

This actor credits producer/director John Rich, who insisted Jimmie use the line “Dyn-o-mite!” on each episode. In addition, Walker and executive producer Norman Lear had doubts about the idea, but the audience liked the expression and Walker’s character.

He also had disagreements with Esther Rolle, the show’s star, both on- and off-screen since they both detested Walker’s increasingly obnoxious persona and appeal. Their disdain pained Walker, and he felt it. Additionally, Amos (before Rolle) left the show due to discontent, making Jimmie the star. The only gang member that skipped Rolle’s burial was him.

In 1975, Jimmie worked as a weekend host on the contemporary R&B station KAGB 103.9 FM, which was licensed to the Los Angeles neighborhood of Inglewood. He made appearances on Match Games and The Tonight Show in the 1970s and early 1980s. Between 1983 and 1984, Walker appeared five times on the Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour.

Amsel, Eisenstadt & Frazier & Hinojosa Talent Agency, Los Angeles, California, USA, has signed this person. For Dr. Pepper, Bell Atlantic, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Steiner Cleaners, Nickelodeon’s “Nick at Night,” and Panasonic Portable 8-Track Player, Jimmie made appearances in advertisements.

Education

Thanks to a New York State-funded program called SEEK, Jimmie Walker continued his education and entered the area of radio engineering with WRVR (Search for Education, Evaluation, and Knowledge). In addition, as a young man, he worked as a seller at Yankee Stadium beginning with the 1964 World Series.

Jimmie Walker claimed to have had several girlfriends but never been married or fathered children. Walker kept his lovers’ identities a secret. He allegedly dated Ann Coulter, albeit this is just hearsay. He’s also been connected to former actress Jere Fields in the past.
