Career
Before being chosen for the Texas Supreme Court, Cornyn spent several years as a judge in the Bexar County region after being appointed there in 1984. Most significantly, he was chosen to serve as the State minority whip in 2012.
In 1988, Cornyn worked with the National Judicial College at the University of Nevada while taking a seminar course at Oxford University. Before being selected as a Republican to the Texas Supreme Court in 1990, Cornyn spent several years as a municipal judge in San Antonio.
