When John moved to Hollywood in 1973, his acting career officially began. In the play The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, he played the opening narrator in his debut performance. He played the lead in the NBC series Baa Baa Black Sheep. He appeared in Sanford and Son, which came out in 1975.
