Mark Foster moved to Sylmar, California, where he resided with his uncle after completing high school. He moved to be nearer Los Angeles so he could pursue a music career. For the following six years, he failed to influence the music business and worked several jobs instead, including bartending, house painting, telemarketing, and waiting tables.
When he was requested to sing lead vocals on the 2006 Toques song “Breakdown,” which was also included in the movie “Stick It,” he gained one of his first significant breaks. He produced songs for various bands, including Friday and The Rondo Brothers, and penned “The Ballad of Andy.” He was employed as a commercial jingle writer by the renowned record label Mophonics in 2008.
He wrote jingles for well-known corporations like Verizon and Honey Bunches of Oats during this time. The 2012 animated film “Frankenweenie” includes the songs “Don’t Stop (Color on the Walls),” “I Would Do Anything for You,” and “Polartropic (You Don’t Understand Me).”
