Pete Carroll’s professional career started when his head coach gave him a job as a graduate assistant. He became an assistant coach for the University of Pacific’s coaching staff in 1973. He is certified to teach at the secondary level. After working as a graduate assistant for three years, Pete graduated in 1976 with a master’s degree in physical education. In 1995, Pete was chosen to join the Pacific Athletic Hall of Fame.
After working with Pacific, Pete was employed in 1977 as a graduate assistant at the University of Arkansas. In Arkansas, he was given more responsibility and obligations as an assistant than he had in the Pacific. After Arkansas, he continued teaching as an assistant professor at North Carolina State University and Iowa State University.
