Frampton played in the band The Little Ravens. At Bromley Technical School, Frampton and a three-year-old David Bowie performed in the band The Little Ravens. When he was 14 years old, Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones handled and produced the Trubeats and the Preachers, which he later joined.
In 1966, he became a member of The Herd and simultaneously rose to fame as a young vocalist. Frampton was “The Face of 1968,” according to the teen magazine Rave. He founded Humble Pie with Steve Marriott of the Small Faces when he was just 18 years old. His 1972 self-titled debut album had Ringo Starr and Billy Preston as special guests. Subsequently, he published Somethin’s Happening.
Early January saw the release of Frampton Comes Alive, which made its chart debut on February 14 at number 191. The album spent 97 weeks on the Billboard 200, of which ten were at the top and 55 were in the top 40. The best-selling album of 1976 was this one, which outsold several other releases, including Fleetwood Mac’s Fleetwood Mac. It was also the 14th best-selling book of 1977.
